Standard: The school
operates under governance and leadership that promote and support
student performance and school effectiveness.
2.1 The Gadsden County School Board,
the governing body of the district, is responsible for the
management, organization, operation and administration of all the
public schools in the county. It sets policies that allow each school's
administrative team to establish its own set of policies and
procedures for the student body, faculty and staff.
These policy books contain information
relevant to the instructional program, attendance, discipline,
extra-curricular activities and personnel policy. The books are presented and explained to the
students and staff during the first two weeks of school and to
parents and stakeholders at the school's Open House.
2.2 The Gadsden County School District
is a state accredited system of schools that services five
communities to which it communicates policies, procedures,
activities/events, and school and community interest stories
through the monthly publications of the school board packet.
The School Board of Gadsden County is
comprised of five elected members from single districts who each
serve a four-year term and who annually elect its chair and
vice-chair at its November meeting. The members play are actively
engaged in the strategic planning and
The district uses a system of data
collection, analysis and dissemination that enables teachers to
access student data individually or collectively. Program
effectiveness is reviewed by the Florida Department of Education's
Office of Differentiated Accountability. The School Climate Data
Surveys provides data for all stakeholders.
The School Board's attorney attends all
meetings and acts as legal advisor to the Board and superintendent
during policy developments, contract negotiations, personnel issues
and legal interpretations of the law.
2.3 The governing body relinquishes
authority to its local administrators to ensure there is full
implementation of all standards, policies, and procedures at his or
her individual school. The principals regularly evaluate staff;
formally and informally, and closely monitor classrooms for program

2.4 The School Advisory Council meets
monthly to provide input into district policies and procedures. It
also aides in the developing of the School Improvement Plan at the
school level based on the school's vision and mission statement.
The schools collaborate and work cooperatively with the parents and
stakeholders to shape decisions and provide feedback on the
school's improvement efforts.
School Leadership Teams meet regularly
with the principal to discuss issues and concerns of the staff.
2.5 The School Advisory Council (SAC)
meets monthly to provide input into district policies and
procedures. It also aides in the developing of the School
Improvement Plan at the school level based on the school's vision
and mission statement.
There are frequent parent meetings and
organized PTA groups in the Gadsden School District. At all school
levels, there is an open-door policy that provides opportunities
for parents and community members to contribute to the school's
2.6 The administration meets with each
grade level to explain and discuss the evaluation process. The effectiveness of
school leaders and staff is measured in the annual personnel
evaluation and review process per the state legislature, board of
education and the district.
School staff receives professional development opportunities that
are proven to promote student growth and success.
