This is my 17th year teaching at James A. Shanks Middle School. I am currently teaching all 7th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) classes.

I have previously taught English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for 6 years, Language Arts 1 for 2 years, and Language Arts 3 for 2 years.

I am certified in Elementary Education Grades K-6, ESOL endorsed and ESOL K-12 certified with the State of Florida.

I have also served as the Site Coordinator after school program at Shanks Middle.

I am Catina L. Simmons-Russ! I've been a Professional Educator with the Gadsden County Public Schools for 17 years.  Prior to teaching, I also served as a ParaProfessional for 10 years. I was born and raised right here in Gadsden County and graduated from James A. Shanks High School in 1990.  I enjoy teaching and always look forward to exploring the world of English with my students each day.

I am married and have two wonderful boys, along with one granddaughter and one grand son!
